OPTIONAL BATTERY POWER
The following reference information is for awnings built prior to 2007. The battery
operated Eclipse has been discontinued.
The Eclipse battery configuration uses one exterior switch, located on the bottom of the
right arm; and, one rechargeable 14.4V NiCd battery pack located in the right arm.
To Operate the Awning: Press and hold the Exterior Switch until the awning is in
the desired position then release the switch.
CHARGING THE BATTERY
The battery is a NiCD rechargeable battery designed to provide years of reliable
service provided that a few simple rules are followed.
Always discharge the battery completely by operating the awning before
recharging. D
O NOT charge the battery after every use.
Always charge the battery fully. Do not partially charge the battery.
Do not operate the awning while the battery is charging. If it is necessary to
operate the awning before the battery is fully charged, disconnect the charger first
to prevent possible damage to the charger.
If the awning is operated while the charger is plugged in, the charger will
falsely report a full battery charge. It will be necessary to reset the charger
by unplugging the power cord, wait 10 seconds and reconnect.
Do not leave the charger plugged into the battery without the power cord plugged
in. This can cause the battery to discharge through the charger. Damage to the
battery can occur over extended periods.
1. Connect the charger to the vehicle’s 12 volt auxiliary outlet.
NOTE: Several commercially available converters are available to operate the
charger from a standard 110VAC wall outlet. Converter is not furnished with
awning but is available through local electronic stores.
2. Connect the charger to the battery through the battery receptacle. The
receptacle is located next to the switch on the bottom of the right arm.
3. Observe the LEDs located on the side of the charger. When the green LED
stays steady on, the battery is fully charged. Disconnect the charger.
